Zach Deputy @ the Middle East Friday 2/24/12

I got a chance to interview Zach Deputy back in January 2008 when I with with Eyes on the Back Door. EOTBD was pretty much an idea at this point and we went to do a weekend tour with him in Georgia. He was a one man band, a master looper, and toured up, down, and everywhere. Well, he's still touring like a champ, but this time around he's with a whole new band and I think a few of them are local Bostonians.

I caught the show in Florida at the Culture Room earlier this month on 2/9/12, (or the last hour and a half of it, I was on vacation and still hung over at 10p.m. curled in the fetal position in the back of my buddies car, Florida can do that to you). They sounded like they've been for together for years, you guys are in for a treat. I can't wait to see it from the beginning :)

Note: I took this picture backstage and could only muscle down 2 beers at the show, I eventually recovered  and listened to jams at Kappeli Compound until the wee hours of the night.

Zach's new record Another Day,Released: September 2011 is about transformation and change, and let me tell you he's matured into a versatile musician. I had a friend ask me what type of music it was, I told him awesome music, it's too tough to pinpoint, he's all over the place, in a good way, a very very good way. But if you insist on a description this is what he calls his music:
Island-Infused Drum N' Bass Gospel Ninja Soul,
ya, that is Awesome.

My favorite is song "Home" from his first album, you can download for free on his website with a bunch of others: Free Home Download

His new album you can stream for free if you enter your email:
NEW ALBUM STREAMING

Make sure you don't miss this show. It's his first time around with a band and they're meshing big time.
Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Middle East downstairs, get your tickets here:

Who knows maybe you'll hear the Chicken Pot Pie song, every time he plays it makes me hungry.

Jesse Dee

Ok, so it's killing me that I have a blog, a boston blog at that, and I haven't blogged anything about my favorite Boston artist. As a matter of fact, I'm his #1 fan, (there are plenty of folks in Arlington that can argue that), but let's agree to disagree.
Jesse Dee could take up a page on this blog, and I'm sure he will someday, but I had to throw some videos of him up here while I'm on a blogging tear today! That makes it four for the day, almost professional over here.
Here it is. My favorite song from Jesse has always been "Yet to Come"(below), ever since I heard a raw acoustic version he record in a bathroom back in the hey-day(if I can find a copy I'll post it immediately), but I also had to post this solo performance of "Over and Over Again"(above) he did in Amsterdam in 2009, it's (earmuffs) fuckin' sick, I just listened to it on repeat about 10 times in a row. His voice runs right through your veins like a drug, I'll take 2 please.
Trust me this is NOT going to be the last time you see a Jesse Dee post, it's very possible he could get a daily update on this blog, that's how much we believe in him. It baffles me that he isn't a household name.

He's up for a New England Music Award, you can vote up to Feb 29 VOTE FOR JESSE DEE

Check him at Precinct on Sat March 3, sick line-up for a great cause a win win in my book.

We'll be making music at

Ken Yates

This kid is modern day James Taylor. This song is for real men out there.
I'm talking man enough to pull an umbrella wheel in your cocktail, pinky out.
I saw Ken Yates at the Steve Katsos show tonight, he was playing with a just as talented Brian Dunne. I believe they both went to Berkeley, not a shocker. He gave me his CD, I just listened to it and was going to just put a track up from that, but I think he sounds even better live. Gave me goosebumps, has nothing to do with his lyrics hitting deep to home. I think I'll post the show I saw tonight and replace it when it comes out , but here is something for now. Can't get it out of my head.

The Magician

My favorite day of the month. These Magic Tapes keep on getting better!!!!!
Here is the 20th anniversary special, sure to be the best 47 minutes of your day!!!

Dirty Ghosts

I had to get up and start dancing midway through this song, just came out this week, I'm feeling it.
